Doula Servin Mamas

Hi! I’m Sara Servin and I am a birth doula looking forward to supporting you throughout your pregnancy journey and in bringing new life into this world.

About me

Hi! I’m Sara and I am a trained birth doula based in Takoma Park, MD. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and am excited to support birthing people in the greater Washington, DC area in their journey to bring new life into this world.

I came into the world of birthwork during my own pregnancy and birth of my son, and felt that this was the work I felt undeniably called to. My great grandmother was a healer and midwife in México and I believe her spirit has led me to this path. My dad and his four siblings were born at home with a neighborhood midwife, and a community that honored tradition, motherhood and a deep connection to the earth. This legacy holds true in my own practice — when a woman becomes a mother, for the first or fifth time, her transition is sacred, and her internal and external bodies should be cared for with nourishing foods, herbs and loving support.

My inspirations come from my background in regenerative agriculture, community herbalism and working towards food equity. I hope to blend these collective experiences to offer empowerment, compassion and support during your pregnancy, labor and postpartum.

Whether you choose to deliver at a hospital, birth center, or at home, I will be there by your side throughout your labor and in welcoming your little one into your arms.

Why consider working with me?

I believe that all birthing people deserve the right to have an empowered birth experience, with continuous support through their labor. When giving birth to my son, I imagined the transition as waves moving him from my internal womb, into the outside world. As your doula, I will make sure your voice is heard, your body is respected and you embrace the power of the waves to bring your little one into your arms. In her research, Penny Simkin shared that women remember their birth stories in great detail forever — from the smell of the room they were in, to the care they received. Let’s make your birth story a memory that you will look back on and cherish.
