Frequently Asked Questions

How will I know when to call you?

During our prenatal visits, we’ll discuss signs of early labor and make a plan for when to call me and where we’ll meet. I’ll be on call ready to meet you at any hour of the day or night!

What will my partner do during labor?

This will depend a bit on your partner, but together we will be part of your care team! This could look like support with counter-pressure, getting you water or food, or taking a rest break, knowing that I am there to support you.

Will you come to my home when I go into labor?

This is another theme we will discuss during your prenatal visit. Ultimately, you decide if you want me to meet you at your home once your contractions reach at a certain point or we meet once you’re at the hospital.

What if I decide I want an epidural, will you still support me during my labor?

Of course! As your doula, I am committed to the decisions that you make and will be there through it all. We will go over lots of different pain management practices and techniques during your prenatal visits, and will discuss the use of an epidural in advance so I best know how to support you in any situation.

Do you provide other services?

Yes! I am a trained Lamaze Childbirth Educator and am available for 1:1 virtual birth coaching calls. Send me a message if this is something you’re interested in or want to learn more about!

What areas do you serve?

I serve all of Washington, DC and the surrounding MD areas, including, Silver Spring, Takoma Park, Bethesda, Rockville, Mount Rainier, Hyattsville, College Park.

Are there any types of birth you will not attend?

I support all types of births at hospitals and birthing centers and homebirths where there is a midwife present. I am not able to support freebirths (without a medical provider) at this time.
